Seals Blog - Spring 2018 (1)
Seals Class have enjoyed their Christmas holiday after a very busy half term leading up to Christmas. We worked really hard in our topic of ‘popular literature’ and enjoyed some old and new stories. We liked cooking gingerbread men biscuits when we were learning about the story of the little gingerbread boy who ran away.
We had lots of special events towards the end of term including our Christmas production ‘Lost in Disney’ where we acted out a scene from Cinderella, Christmas dinner (yummy) and a visit from Santa. We also had a fabulous day out at Drayton Manor thanks to the Kids days out charity.
We enjoyed trips out on the minibus on Thursdays visiting local supermarkets to buy food for our snacks and ingredients for cooking activities. We also visited garden centres to look at their Christmas scenes and lights.
Our topic this half term is ‘Counting Stories and rhymes’. We will enjoy a variety of number rhymes and stories and base our creative work in art, DT and music on them, for example, by using instruments to add sound effects to the stories and rhymes. The topic will support us with numbers and counting in Maths and we will also be thinking about shape and size of objects as well as applying our maths skills to everyday situations. We will go out on the minibus on Thursday mornings to enhance our learning and develop social skills in the community. We continue to have swimming and PE on Mondays and go to the library on Fridays to share a book and to choose a book to take home.
We are looking forward to working hard and enjoying our learning this half term!
