Seals Blog - Autumn 2017 (2)
The pupils in Seals class have all settled into their new class, making friends and working really hard with having had a very busy Autumn 1 term. They enjoyed learning about the topic ‘Celebrating Me’.
The Seals class have enjoyed going out on the bus to buy the different ingredients for cooking and for snack times. We have also enjoyed driving round looking at their houses and recognising familiar surroundings.
This term our topic is “popular literature”. We will be looking at the books The Gingerbread Man, Sleeping Beauty and then moving onto exciting Christmas stories. We will be changing our home corner into a castle and dressing up as princesses and princes. We will continue with dough disco and write dance building up our fine motor skills to help up with our writing. We enjoy sharing books in the library on a 1-1, reading a large book on the interactive white board in a group focusing on sharing and commenting using PECS symbols to support our speech.
This term in Maths we are continuing to work on number rhymes, singing and following number games and songs, following a sequence of pictures, 1-1 correspondence, making set groups of objects and adding 1 and taking 1 away. We are introducing new concepts of more and less, one and lots and moving on to simple addition and subtraction.
We will be getting very creative in Art and D&T with activities for bonfire night, Remembrance Day and Christmas. We will be sending lots of exciting work home in the weeks ahead.
We will continue to use the school mini bus Tuesday to visit local supermarkets, garden centres looking at the Christmas scenes and walks in local area becoming a wider part of the community.
We are looking forward to performing at our Christmas concert ‘Lost in Disney’ and are looking forward to a trip to Drayton Manor ‘Winter Wonderland and visit to Santa’ kindly provided by the charity Kids.
