Penguins: Spring Term 1 Update
Last half term we explored a variety around the books; ‘Brown Bear’, ‘Train Ride’, ‘Dark, Dark Tale’ and ‘Owl Babies’. We have been taking part in a range of sensory activities, getting messy when we are learning.
In literacy we have been making marks in a range of media including jelly, foam, flour and oats enabling them to practice their fine-motor skills. We have also been matching our names to our photographs and finding ours and our friends face photographs.
In Mathematics, we have been concentrating on sorting objects according to colour. We have also been counting through singing lots of number songs including 5 Cheeky Monkeys, 10 Fat Sausage and 5 Little Monkeys.
This half term we are going to be focusing on several stories – Peace at Last, Going on a Bear Hunt and Animal Boogie.
In Literacy, we will be focusing in developing our pencil grip through a variety of activities including threading, using pegs to hang the washing up, picking objects up with tweezers as well as zipping our coats up.
In Mathematics, we are going to explore ordering numbers and beginning to use 1:1 correspondence.
We are also developing our construction skills using large and small bricks to make walls and other structures.
