Octopus January 2020 Blog Update
Autumn Term Two
In our Creative Curriculum lessons we enjoyed learning about the Victorians last term. We focused on children’s lives as a scullery maid or a chimney sweep in our English lessons, and in Creative we learnt about old toys.
In Forest School we made lots of Christmas crafts and learnt how to whittle using a potato peeler.
We all enjoyed going to Drayton Manor: it was a lot of fun. We also had a great time at the pantomime in Derby, which this year was Peter Pan. The Dame had some amazing costumes that our pupils are still talking about now. Our Christmas dinner was delicious too, and all of our class sat so well throughout. Our pupils all took part in the Christmas production, with them choosing which film and song to do. I think they did an amazing job.
Spring Term One
This half term we shall be learning about the Romans. Who they were, where they came from, how they travelled here, and what happened when they arrived. We shall also be exploring the innovations the Romans brought with them and how this benefited our society. We are having a Super learning Day about the Romans in the middle of this half term so that should be a lot of fun.
We shall also be celebrating Chinese New Year on Friday 24th January by wearing red.
In Forest School this half term we shall be making a variety of bird feeders, and making some clay pots based on a Roman design.
