MOMO Challenge

The ‘MOMO challenge’ challenge started off as an urban myth and there has been a steady stream of 'fake news' coverage on social media which has ramped up the spread of it. There has been three reported deaths of children from around the world that have been claimed to be the result of the ‘MOMO challenge’ however there is no evidence to link any of the children's deaths with Momo.

The problem we face now is the more attention that is raised amongst children about it, the more likely they are to believe it and maybe start their own version of it because they have learned from fake news about a myth. Just like any urban legend or horror story, the concept can be quite frightening and distressing. Whilst this may seem obvious, it’s important for you to reiterate to your child that Momo is not a real person and cannot directly harm them! Also, tell your child to not go openly searching for this content online as it may only cause more distress.
