Jellyfish Summer 2019 Blog Update
Updated: Jan 13, 2020
Our topic this term is “how do we keep healthy” and we are concentrating on healthy eating. Our stories will be The very hungry caterpillar and Oliver's fruit salad, because this is a short term we will be continuing the topic when we come back after half term. All our Maths English and science will be connected with the stories. We are practicing mark making and writing skills in the sensory room under the uv light, this grabs our attention and we are able to focus and look at the results. There are lots of Maths opportunities in the hungry caterpillar including counting, size, sequencing and matching. We will be tasting the fruit and have already made fruit kebabs, which were delicious and we are going to make fruit smoothies too, we will be able to observe solid to liquid and will use electrical equipment and switches to make them. We have also been exploring soil (apologies if your child bought any extra home with them) and planting grass and cress, we are observing carefully for any growth. With the sun beginning to shine there will also be lots of outdoor activities please make sure you have applied or sent sun cream in and a sun hat is advisable when it is hot. We do have lots of messy activities in Jellyfish and although we use aprons and shirts to protect our clothing we do sometimes come home with the days activities on our clothes ! While we are getting messy exploring we are having fun and learning.
