Hajj Celebrations

Children at Fountains Primary have been observing other religious celebrations this week and have been learning about the Hajj Festival.

The Hajj is a Muslim pilgrimage to a special place called Mecca and the fifth pillar of Islam. The pilgrims wear white cloth called an ‘Ihram’, they all wear the same so all people are equal, whether rich or poor.

Pupils enjoyed watching a video about what Hajj is, trying on an ‘Ihram’, studying a beautiful prayer mat, listening to Islamic music and some children even had the opportunity to make some traditional sweets.
