Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Children at Fountains Primary Special School started their Chinese New Year celebrations on yesterday with an authentic experience at The Kwei Ping Restaurant in Station Street, Burton on Trent. All of the pupils were excited to meet restaurant owners Loi and Julie Cheung and were treated to a selection of Chinese cuisine, of which the pupils thoroughly enjoyed.

The pupils will also be taking part in a host of other related activities ahead of Chinese New Year this week. Key Stage One pupils will have a go at performing a traditional Chinese dragon dance. While Key Stage Two pupils will be taking part in a ‘Super Learning Day’ on Thursday, involving food tasting, a range of creative and cultural activities, finishing with a Chinese lantern parade and celebration assembly.

The pupils across the school have also been practicing Gung Hay Fat Choy, a Chinese New Year song, wishing everyone good fortune and happiness.
