Enhanced Learning Provision – Autumn 1 2019
Students and staff all returned in good spirits after the Summer break, with the department gaining an extra class group.
Staffing is as follows: S1 – Becky Woodhall, S2 – Caroline Heathcote / Claire Hawcroft, S3 (the new class group) – Sarah Hinton and S4 (High Dependency Unit) – Dawn Lloyd
Last half term, students were out and about in the community, developing their personal independence skills and visiting lots of different community facilities. Students have had the opportunity to visit Children’s Choice Therapy Centre and use the facilities there and many took part in the Harvest Festival at the church. Class groups made scarecrows as our contribution to the Harvest theme.
S1’s theme for last half term was “Habitats”, S2 focused on “Food we eat”, S3’s theme was “Seasons” while S4 took “Treasure Island” as their theme (and pirates of course!). All themed activities are multi-sensory and planned with individual students in mind, as well as focusing on English, Maths and Science skills.
This half term, the themes are as follows: S1 – “In the sky”, S2 – “Keeping Warm”, S3 – “Narnia” and S4 – “Festivals of Light”. Students will continue to follow their personalised timetables and be encouraged to develop their personal independence skills in all areas as well as having the opportunity to access the community to help generalise the skills developed in classroom activities.
